Rainbow 'Round My Face
written by C. Carson Parks II

Lyrics:

Rainbow ‘round my face, I know you see it

Coloring the sight of your good-byes

It’s the sunlight of the smile that I am wearing

Shining through the teardrops from my eyes

When you see the color of a rainbow

And wonder at it’s beauty so divine

Remember sun alone can’t make a rainbow

It takes a little rain to make it shine.

Rainbow ‘round my face, I know you see it

Coloring the sight of your good-byes

It’s the sunlight of the smile that I am wearing

Shining through the teardrops from my eyes

I smile so they won’t know that I am grieving

And that you’ll “be back home just any day”

But darling, don’t you know that by your leaving

You’re turning all my sunny days to grey?

Rainbow ‘round my face, I know you see it

Coloring the sight of your good-byes

It’s the sunlight of the smile that I am wearing

Shining through the teardrops from my eyes

Carson's Remarks:

A couple interesting chord items here: I started out on the IImb, which is one of my favorites. Then, with the bridges (or verses, whatever), I went to the tonic minor. Once out there on THAT limb, I had a hard time figuring out how to get back home, but I finally did. This has been recorded by a couple people.
